The peak was inhabited since prehistoric times and the foundations of its fortress have probably been built since Roman times. The castle was completed during the Great Moravian Empire, the Austro – Hungarian Empire, during the Renaissance, has Gothic and Baroque elements. The history of Slovakia can literally be read on its walls and it is no accident that the castle is home to the Slovak National Museum, the National Council and the President of Slovakia. The castle gardens are open 24 hours a day, although this season there were not many flowers, the very baroque design of our gardens captivated. With its four towers, the beautiful rectangular castle dominates the landscape of the Slovak capital. It is 80 m above the river level. As a protected fortress and panorama, the castle is incomparable as it rests between the Alps and the Carpathians and protects an ancient ford on the Danube.
